Leather is a timeless material that has been known as a luxurious item because of its decent appearance. Throughout history, leather has existed in a lot of forms and colors. Leather could be found in pants, jackets, bags, accessories, and even the straps of the watch. Each one of these has a unique finish, texture, type, and grade.

All of these qualities add to the overall look of the leather. In fact, some of these traits depend on the quality of each other. Like, cowhide leather is known to give outstanding results when given a halt finish. Likewise, full-grain leather is known to be the most seminal and optimal quality leather, and whenever used for any item, it boosts and improves its durability.

These combinations add to the texture of the leather; something primal in our decision-making process when we purchase the item. The reason is very simple: it bids on the quality of leather. Although, let us see some different types of leather textures from the popular ones to the non-popular ones.

WHAT IS THE LEATHER TEXTURE?

The most significant aspect that forms the quality of the leather texture is the grain that has been utilized. Relying on the size and shape of the grain i.e. small, wide, thin, thick, regular, or irregular, the quality of the leather texture is determined.

This perception could be understood easily with the example of a leather bag. For a coarse feel, a wide leather grain is utilized, whereas finer grain leather is used for a smooth and soft feel or refined look.

The leather texture is important as it confirms the legitimacy of the fabric as well as its uniqueness. Also, the leather texture assures how absorbent the material is which later makes sure its breathability.

If the leather is obtained from full-grain, the quality would be excellent providing an amazing degree of water resistance and semi-aniline finished leather quality.

Although, if the leather is obtained from bonded leather, the water resistance would be low in comparison!

IS THE LEATHER TEXTURE AND TEXTURED LEATHER SIMILAR?

Leather texture and textured leather may look like the same thing but in reality, they are different forms of leather. The leather texture is significantly the natural form of animal hide – the totally untouched look. Hence, this leather texture might have bruises, scars, and blemishes visible. Though, textured leather is amongst the types of leather textures that are synthetically refined and boosted to accomplish a certain look. You can obtain a flawless leather texture by using chemicals.

A product with textured skin or finishing would be clearly different, having an unusually even-textured surface as compared to the original leather texture that is totally untouched, having a natural look.
